Emma Roberts’s “Sunrise Red” Hair Transformation Channels ‘Pretty Woman’ Vibes
Emma Roberts is taking beauty inspiration from her movie-star aunt, Julia Roberts. Known for her signature buttery blonde locks with occasional brunette detours, the Tell Me Lies director embraced a bold change to kick off 2025. On February 3, she unveiled a striking “sunrise red” hair transformation, reminiscent of Julia Roberts’s Pretty Woman era.
Previously sporting a platinum blonde, collarbone-grazing hairstyle, Roberts debuted long, cinnamon-red waves cascading past her chest—echoing the Titian auburn hue her aunt made famous in the ’90s rom-com scene. She took to Instagram to share the dramatic shift, posting a before-and-after salon Reel set to Lana Del Rey’s Season of the Witch.
Though Roberts hasn’t disclosed the exact reason behind her copper-toned makeover, celebrity hairstylist Nikki Lee revealed that the transformation was inspired by Julia Roberts and prepared Emma for an upcoming role. “We love this look on Emma—it’s a modern take on Julia Roberts’s iconic ’90s hair,” Lee told People. “I created this shade specifically for her new role.”

Along with the fresh color, Roberts’s hairstyling team added wispy layers to complement her features. “This multi-reflective tone is perfect on Emma—it makes her eyes pop and enhances her complexion beautifully,” Lee added.
This isn’t the first time Roberts has embraced red—she last experimented with a similar auburn shade in 2017. While she hasn’t confirmed details about her next project, the Lana Del Rey track choice hints that the horror queen might be preparing for another eerie role.
